Description:

Working in a fast-paced medical clinic, the Registered Nurse Sonographer provides support and care to the patients and maintains professional standards of care, following AMA Code of Ethics. The Registered Nurse is responsible for patient care and education and working under the supervision of the Executive Director and in cooperation with the Director of Patient Services.

The Registered Nurse Sonographer is responsible for patient care and education. The Registered Nurse Sonographer assures that patients are receiving the best medical and nursing care possible and works in conjunction with the Medical Volunteers & Interns, with the Director of Patient Services, and other team members to assure overall patient care is accomplished, i.e., emotional support, community resources, etc.

Medical Clinic is opened Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 9:30 am to 2 pm. We are seeking nurses to alternate on Saturdays.

Administrative Duties:

 Ensures the charting of patient files is accurate.
 Maintains a working knowledge of nursing methods, principles, and practices in relation to the prevention and treatment of disease, safety and infection control, clinical systems, supplies and equipment.
 Assures compliance with infection control guidelines.
 Maintains adequate nursing supplies.
 Maintains a current medical and social services referral listing.
 Collaborates with the Director of Patient Services.
 Cooperates in the scheduling of the medical team.

Nursing Care:

 Provides medical care to patients, i.e. assessing client needs and making nursing judgments that reflect safe nursing practices.
 Maintains accurate clinical records, care plans, and follow through on physician’s orders.
 Daily completes patient electronic charting.
 Assures accurate implementation of medical policies & procedures and physician’s orders.
 Advises medical team of patients’ progress and changes in condition.
 Provides education for patient and family to develop an understanding of their health condition.
 Provides patient follow-up per care plan and standardized procedures.
 Provides pregnancy tests to patients and gives results.
 Attends ultrasound exam, assisting with patient medical questions.

Public Relations:

 Represents SPC in the community as delegated by the Executive Director.
 Attends medical conferences that offer professional training and information pertinent to the center’s practices as delegated by the Executive Director.

Personal Development:

 Maintains a professional license.
 Maintains current CPR training.
 Maintains 20 continuing education (CME) hours every 2 years in related field of service.
 Increases knowledge of obstetrical and gynecological care, reproductive health, birth control methods, STD’s and other women’s health issues, etc.

Southside Pregnancy Center is a Christian ministry and we offer free counseling to staff so that they may process the pro-life work they take part in.

Experience Needed:   Professional Qualifications : Be an actively Registered nurse in the State of Illinois. Have 2-5 years’ experience in women’s health care and OB/GYN care.  Exhibit strong interpersonal and administrative skills.  Nonprofit experience preferred.  Previous ProLife exposure a plus.  Sonograph certification required
