Program Assistant Intern

Report to: Family Success Specialist
Location: Chattanooga, TN | Status: Internship (Paid) |
Duration: 12 weeks Between May 5- August 22, 2025

About The Momentum Network

The Momentum Network is a two-generation support community for single mothers pursuing a college degree. We empower women to continue their education while receiving access to housing, childcare, career development, and wraparound services that lead to long-term success for their families.

Position Summary

The Program Assistant Intern will play a vital role in supporting the daily operations of Momentum’s student and family support programming. This opportunity is ideal for a recent graduate or a college senior earning a Bachelor’s degree by May 2026 who is interested in nonprofit work, social services, or educational equity. The intern will support intake, outreach, care coordination, and facilitation of family-focused meetings and events. The intern should be comfortable working with both student parents and their children in a supportive, trauma-informed environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with eligibility and enrollment of new program participants, including application tracking and document collection
  • Support outreach efforts through campus engagement, follow-up communications, and relationship-building with community partners
  • Help coordinate resources and referrals for participants in collaboration with program staff
  • Participate in and assist with family-friendly program meetings, workshops, and events (some evening hours required)
  • Engage warmly and professionally with student parents and their children
  • Perform light office duties including reception coverage, basic research, and preparation of program materials
  • Maintain accurate records and support documentation in internal systems
  • Provide general support to the Program Team and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be a recent graduate or current senior earning a Bachelor’s degree by May 2026
  • Prior experience in client services, customer service, education, childcare, or related roles strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, empathy, and a team-oriented mindset
  • Comfortable working with both adult participants and young children
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail
  • Willingness to work in-person in Chattanooga, TN, with some evening availability
