Position Summary:
The Programs Director leads the development and implementation of all Centro Tepeyac programming, ensuring effective client services and programmatic support. This includes managing pregnancy testing, options education, ongoing support, material assistance, and class programs. The role supervises Client Advocates and coordinates volunteer recruitment, training, and placement for various center needs. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining boutique inventory, working directly with abortion-minded clients when needed, and supporting administrative tasks. The Programs Director collaborates with the Executive Director on program evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement, and also engages in community outreach to build referral networks and represent the center at local events, as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
Client Advocates:
- Oversee Client Advocate training in ability to offer strong options education sessions for high-risk clients and abortion-minded clients using LoveApproach training provided by Heartbeat International.
- Administer and communicate self-managed urine pregnancy test results.
- As needed, hire any additional Client Advocates to support Centro Tepeyac operations (Client Advocates are cross-trained in reception.)
- Devise a volunteer Client Advocate training program and its timeline for implementation which can include role play, the LoveApproach training, observations, and/or anything else up to the Programs Director’s discretion.
- Recruit specifically for volunteer Client Advocates who could commit to at least 8-12 months of seeing clients for pregnancy tests and options education.
- Once the cohort is identified, lead the LoveApproach education to volunteers, preparing them to see clients.
- Upon completion of volunteer Client Advocate training, oversee scheduling them for shifts within the center, as needed.
- Step in on behalf of Client Advocates in time of their absence (sick, time off, etc.), as long as the time off is during appointment hours.
Client Referral Services:
- Become a certified MD Health Connection Application Counselor (free), if not already, which enables us to help clients apply to WIC, SNAP, and TANF and obtain insurance, directly at Centro Tepeyac.
- Offer referrals based on identified needs during advocate sessions.
- Conduct all post-client session administrative tasks (record client data into the eKyros database; archive client IDs and intake forms; schedule follow-ups for insurance, referrals, and class participation).
Client Education and Classes:
- Develop and update course materials in collaboration with the Executive Director to support client education, including topics such as prenatal and postpartum care, parenting skills, and accessing community resources.
- Research and establish relationships with relevant organizations and professionals for course development, ideally pro bono opportunities.
- Coordinate with guest instructors to deliver high-quality educational content.
- Oversee the Education Coordinator (EC) who will give weekly Brightcourse classes to clients. If Brightcourse moves to a remote program for clients (how it was intended), work with the EC to create program goals and implementation with ongoing evaluations for smoother implementation.
- Ensure class resources and supplies (e.g., snacks, printed and digital materials) are prepared and available for attendees.
- Ensure center technology for classes and client communication is up to date. As needed, take initiative in bringing laptops/iPads to the appropriate electronics store for maintenance, upkeep, or replacement.
Baby Boutique Management:
- Review tangible donations for quality and determine the in-kind donation amount with the support of the Client Advocate(s).
- Lead the organization of special material assistance gifts, like Christmas Baby Bundles, which include essential items for newborns such as clothing, blankets, diapers, and small toys (or delegate to a volunteer group).
- Coordinate Baby Boutique drives with interested volunteers, churches, schools, and/or other organizations.
- Maintain a strong and clear inventory of Baby Boutique and communicate needs (stock, operational item needed, etc.) with external groups.
- Maintain positive relationships with frequent boutique donors to ensure ongoing support for client services. At times, this may include writing thank-you letters to schools, churches, and other organizations who assisted with a drive or similar donations initiative.
Reporting & Program Development:
- Complete monthly program reports and collaborate with the Executive Director on further developing client services.
- Training and Preparation for Client Counseling & Referral Services:
- Participate in ongoing training through the Staff Training Plan and Resource Library.
- Oversee staff professional development and ensure each Advocate and volunteer is partaking in the continuing education metrics as outlined by the Executive Director.
Community Outreach and Partnerships:
- Conduct ongoing research and outreach to neighboring organizations and community partners to maintain strong referral relationships.
- Add partners to the Community Outreach Log as relationships are established.
- Offer referrals based on identified needs during advocate sessions and in adherence to each community partner’s referral requirements.
- For onsite classes, finalize the monthly class calendar by the third week of each month, between Brightcourse classes and guest teachers.
- Create the calendar in Canva using past templates, and distribute it to the list of Community Partners listed in the Community Outreach Log during the third week of each month.
Management:
- Directly oversee the training and performance of the Client Advocate, as well as the volunteers, focusing on skill development, adherence to protocols, and effective client interaction to ensure high-quality service delivery.
Additional Projects:
- As a small team that values close collaboration, there may be additional projects or initiatives that arise to support our mission. These projects often require participation and input from every role to ensure their success. Flexibility and a willingness to step into new tasks are essential as we adapt to meet the needs of our clients and community.
Qualifications:
- For this role, the ideal applicant has a strong background in administrative support, is detail oriented, and proactive. The ideal candidate has a psychology, social work, education, or similar background. The candidate should be comfortable managing client-facing staff, willing to participate in ongoing training, and have a demonstrated ability to evaluate programs and implement changes, as needed.

- Proficient in G Suite
- Proactive in all duties and comfortable asking questions, willing and eager to learn
Preferred:
Prior experience in client advocacy, counseling, social services, or client support
Knowledge of local community resources and support systems
