Overview of the Position

Students for Life of America is looking to hire a Mid-Level Gifts Officer. The Mid-Level Gifts Officer is responsible for stewarding, engaging with, and soliciting a caseload of 400-600 supporter relationships in the $1,000 – $4,999 giving range. This position works under the direction of the Senior Philanthropy Manager to enhance and support the overall mission of SFLA.  

Responsibilities 

  • Under the direction of the Senior Philanthropy Manager, and in consultation with the Director of Development, develop, implement SFLA’s mid-level donor program (individuals in the $1,000 – $4,999 giving range), including establishing short-term and long-term strategies.
  • Create annual outreach plans for your caseload of 400-600 donors and help develop strategies for retention, increase giving, and qualification to major gift caseloads.
  • From August 1-July 31 you will be responsible for meeting your fundraising goal through a series of donor touches that include calls, texts, emails, and letters.
  • Ensuring that the database management CRM – Virtuous is accurate and notes are inputted in a timely record keeping reporting manner.
  • Manage the production of annual appeals, renewals, and upgrades through mailings, emails, phone calls, as well as all other correspondence and stewardship specific to the annual fund and planned giving programs. Collaborate with the Development team to ensure consistency with communications, messaging, and solicitations.
  • Ensure that all donors and donor interactions are tracked accurately and that individual gifts are acknowledged through a handwritten thank you note in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Assist in organizing mid-level donor cultivation events in coordination with the development department team.
  • Assist the SFLA HQ team with various assignments and tasks.
  • Christmas card writing for donors.
  • Assist with other duties assigned by the Senior Philanthropy Manager and Development Director.

  • This is a full-time salaried position working at least 40 hours per week. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours can be somewhat flexible by request.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The Mid-Level Gifts Officer will report to the Senior Philanthropy Manager and will
    • collaborate with multiple departments within Students for Life, without direct supervisor responsibilities.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Candidates must have knowledge of grammar rules and utilize the oxford comma.
  • Knowledge of techniques and best practices in fundraising including donation fulfillment, and stewardship communications (including email solicitations and social media strategies for online fundraising to reach this target audience).
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on a team and to build and maintain positive relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and effective presentation skills.
  • Strong analytic skills, and ability to apply strategic and creative thinking.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to ensure consistency with communications, messaging, and solicitations.
