Job Description

Reports to: Board of Directors

Classification: Full-time, exempt

Objectives of the position: The Executive Director carries out Women’s Care Mary’s Center’s mission statement, statement of faith, policies, etc., and follows all applicable laws, rules and regulations. Working with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director assists in the planning and implementation of goals in the area of administration, service, community relations/outreach and fundraising. The Executive Director is responsible for the daily operations of the pregnancy center, supervising all staff (medical and nonmedical) and volunteers, and collaborating with the Medical Director.

Qualifications:

  • Believes in the sanctity of all human life from the moment of conception through natural death.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in business or non-profit administration management, or related field.
  • Experience in a management and administrative position. Preferably experience in working at a pregnancy center or nonprofit organization.
  • Agreement and compliance with mission statement, Statement of Faith and policies of Women’s Care Mary’s Center.
  • Expresses a desire to reach mothers that are abortion minded and support pregnant women and their families in need.
  • Community building experience.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications.
  • Internet and media savvy.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Works with the Board of Directors, staff and volunteers to accomplish the mission of Women’s Care Mary’s Center.
  • Provides leadership, motivation, support and direction for volunteers and staff.
  • Provides spiritual leadership to staff and volunteers.
  • Establishes and maintains an organizational structure and management system that assures efficiency, accountability and appropriate delegation of tasks.
  • Implements legally sound policies and procedures for operation of the Center.
  • Ensures that the Center is providing high-quality, appropriate services according to medical standards of care.
  • Recommends annual directional goals for the Center to the Board of Directors. Involved in planning long and short term objectives.
  • Ensures client services are appropriate and address physical, emotional and spiritual health.
  • Oversees human resources, including hiring, training, evaluating and terminating of employees according to Center’s policies.
  • Oversees volunteers, including recruitment, training, evaluating, and termination as necessary. Assures continual development of volunteers through training and sharing opportunities.
  • Ensures Women’s Care Mary’s Center and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented to relevant stakeholders in a strong, positive image.
  • Promote client services to churches and organizations in the Glen Burnie area and throughout Anne Arundel County.
  • Oversees fundraising planning and implementation, including identifying resource requirements, researching funding sources, establishing strategies to approach funders, developing a yearly fundraising calendar, submitting proposals, administrating fundraising records and documentation, and ensuring that a system of accountability is in place at fundraising events.
  • Coordinates with the accountant to ensure that accurate and current financial records are kept and that the budget is maintained.
  • Communicates with the landlord and coordinates facility repairs, updates, problems, etc. with management.
  • Coordinates and participates in quarterly Board of Directors meetings.
  • Ensures that accurate client records are maintained and that statistical reports are filed monthly and annually.
  • Helps to implement quarterly volunteer meetings with Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Facilitates and delegates correspondence for annual appeal and all external requests.
  • Schedules and meets regularly with committee coordinators to ensure Women’s Care Mary’s Center’s goals are met. Continues ongoing communication with coordinators to monitor progress and provide guidance and direction.
  • Implements marketing and advertising strategies as needed.
  • Ensures the professional appearance of the center.
  • Assists in Board of Directors’ recruitment and development.
  • Manages physical resources. Oversees acquisition of supplies and equipment as needed.

Other appropriate duties as requested by the Board of Directors.

Experience Needed:   3-5+ years of progressive leadership experience in a nonprofit, ministry, or social-services environment, preferably within the pro life ministry. Proven experience managing staff, recruiting and trining volunteers, and working alongside a board of directors. Experience with budgeting, financial management, grant writing, and donor development or fundraising campaigns. Excellent public speaking, networking, and interpersonal skills to represent the center to parishes, diocesan offices, and the public. Familiarity with the ethical, legal and operation standards specific to medical or non-medical pregnancy resource centers and client confidentiality protocols.
