Development Manager

Illinois Right to Life is seeking a development manager who is fearless about inviting individuals to join our mission through philanthropy, thrives on challenges, is meticulously detail-oriented, has a talent for planning memorable events, and is passionate about the pro-life cause.

We are a growing pro-life organization dedicated to protecting innocent human life from conception until natural death. Our work includes advocacy, direct aid to women and families in crisis, education, and effectuating a strategic plan to shift attitudes about abortion in Illinois. We are a secular, non-partisan organization that is committed to winning Illinois for life, one heart at a time.

Our office is located in the Loop in Chicago, and it is convenient for public transit—just two blocks from Union Station. We are currently operating on a 3-2-2 schedule (M-W in office, work from home on R-F, and weekends off). This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work is required for events and other meetings. Employment will begin in June 2022.

Job Duties
Oversee All Direct Appeals
-Create a schedule and develop fundraising goals for direct appeals coordinating email, social media, and direct mail
-Ensure all deadlines are met between the executive director, the communications team, and vendors
-Plan fundraising campaigns for holidays and important dates
-Ensure all direct appeals stay within in budget
-Calculate ROI for all direct appeals to maximize revenues
Oversee Planning of Special Events
-Responsible for all planning pertaining to the spring IRL Leaders for Life Banquet
-Responsible for all planning pertaining to the fall Illinois Right to Life Action Banquet
-Responsible for planning other events as needed
-budget, analyzes ROI, and seeks to increase revenues for all events
Major Donor and Foundation Fundraising
-Oversee and update donor pipelines as needed
-Manage Donum Vitae Major Donor/Planned Giving Program
-Manage and conduct foundation grant solicitations
-Schedule donor meetings as needed
-Attend donor meetings as needed
-Assist in major gift recognition
Oversee Donor Database
-Ensure donor information is entered accurately by database manager
-Create reports as needed
-Analyze donation trends
-Ensure donor updates are created
Additional Duties
-Answer phones and fulfill constituent requests as needed
-Other additional duties as needed

-Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
-Exceptionally strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
Outgoing, professional, and comfortable in a variety of social situations;
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
-WordPress experience preferred, but not required;
-Database experience preferred, but not required;
-Proactive, goal-oriented, and extremely responsive;
-A team player with a strong work ethic and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Experience Needed:   Event planning, fundraising, sales, database, and/or WordPress experience desired but not required. The most important requirements are commitment to the life issues and a willingness to learn.
