Summary

The Students for Life of America (SFLA) Diocesan and Church Outreach Intern will help expand the reach of the Pro-Life Generation through assisting with the development of SFLA’s church outreach program, the Called Initiative. This role will lead to the cultivation of relationships with dioceses, churches, and other religious organizations, to form pro-life partnerships and implement SFLA’s national programming. The Diocesan and Church Intern will also assist in the creation and development of Field Team materials and diocesan and church outreach resources.

This is an amazing opportunity for students who have a passion for the pro-life movement and want to connect with various religious leaders across the country. This position will teach you how to effectively communicate across various religions and denominations, all for the good of the pro-life movement!

We are looking for a team player who is well-organized, innovative, and (most importantly) has a passion for ending abortion. Prior involvement with pro-life activism is preferred, and some experience with copy writing, youth ministry, and/or faith formation is a plus.

This position will begin in Fall of 2024 and will go until end of Spring 2025.

Essential Functions

  • Aid in growing the Called Initiative by assisting the Diocesan and Church Coordinator and the Programs Team.
  • Brainstorm innovative solutions to connect with people of all faith backgrounds on pro-life issues broadly, and anti-abortion advocacy specifically.
  • Write, edit, and create effective and engaging pro-life resources.
  • Utilize Salesforce to accurately track diocesan and church engagement.
  • Help with updating and auditing Field Team resources.
  • Assist the Programs Director and Diocesan and Church Coordinator with special assignments and other tasks, as needed.

Competencies

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent time management and personal organizational skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and with little direct supervision in carrying out the core functions listed above.
  • Passion for ending abortion and building a Culture of Life.

Work Environment

This position will work remotely from your home office or from Students for Life Headquarters in Fredericksburg, VA.

Physical Demands

Physical demands may include carrying and lifting resources, as well as being on your feet for extended periods of times during outreach events.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • This is an unpaid internship that will give you experience in coordinating and building relationship with Church and Diocesan leadership.
  • Depending on needs, this position can be tailored in order to earn academic credit for your university.
  • Core SFLA business hours are Monday to Friday, 10am ET to 3pm ET. Internship hours may be somewhat flexible by request.

Required Education and Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program or recent college graduate.
  • Past/current involvement in the pro-life movement.
  • Experience with writing, editing, proofreading, and content creation.
  • Previous internship or work experience in faith formation, youth ministry, and/or catechesis (preferred).
