Summary

The nation’s largest pro-life youth organization, Students for Life of America, is seeking a part-time Leadership Initiatives Intern. This position is a major opportunity for a recent graduate who is looking to be trained by proven grassroots, non-profit leader. The Leadership Initiatives Intern will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the Fellowship program. The Leadership Initiatives Intern will report to the Director of Leadership Initiatives.

 

Essential Functions

Fellowship Responsibilities

  • Lead calls for the Wilberforce Fellowship program.
  • Lead calls for the Christian Leadership Fellowship program.
  • Lead calls for the Thaddeus Stevens Fellowship.
  • Communicate relevant news updates and helpful tips to fellows and mentors as needed.
  • Ensure students submit all project reports for the year.
  • Communicate student project and program updates to Regional Coordinators.
  • Assist in leading other program calls when needed.
  • Cover all other duties for the Fellowship Coordinator while she is out of office.

 

National Leaders Collective Responsibilities

  • Assist in leadership applications and marketing for the National Leaders Collective.
  • Coordinate student travel to the National Leaders Collective.

 

Leadership Team Responsibilities

  • Assist in the execution of the National Leaders Collective.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A positive attitude, good problem-solving skills, and a passion for serving in the pro-life field are a must.
  • Must be teachable to learn SFLA technologies and platforms.
  • Candidates must be self- motivated, a good problem solver, have an entrepreneurial spirit, expert multi-tasker, maintain confidentiality, able to work independently, and be a highly organized person.
  • Candidates must have knowledge of grammar rules and utilize the oxford comma.
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Must be capable of presenting to student leaders.

Supervisory Responsibility

The Leadership Initiatives Intern will report to the Director of Leadership Initiatives and will:

  • collaborate with multiple departments within Students for Life, without direct supervisor responsibilities.
  • supervise student project completion for William Wilberforce, Thaddeus Stevens, and Christian Leadership Fellowships, as well as utilize peer management techniques to coordinate across internal and external teams.

 

Physical Demands

  • Must have the ability to operate technical equipment such as a computer and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to withstand long periods of driving.
  • Other physical demands may include setting up displays, walking around campuses, standing during display times, walking outside for long periods of time (door to door canvassing) and participating in local and national pro-life marches. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is an hourly position working a maximum of 25 hours per week beginning in December 1st, 2023 and ending in June 28th, 2024. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and in the evenings from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Hours for this position will be flexible and dependent on fellowship calls as fellowship calls and webcasts may require evening hours, allowing flexible daily hours to accommodate.

A maximum of 40 hours per week January 15th – 21st and while this team member is in Fredericksburg for the National Leaders Collective kickoff weekend June 10th – 28th, 2023.

Travel

Travel to the National Pro-Life March & National Pro-Life Summit in January, as well as the National Leaders Collective in June.

 

Required Education and Experience

The part-time position requires a minimum of an Associate’s Degree, but a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Experience in event marketing, social media, written and oral communication is preferred.

 

Work Authorization

Must be able to successfully complete an I-9.  The I-9 is used for verifying the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States.
