Overview of the Position

Students for Life of America is looking for a Leadership Initiatives Intern working a maximum of 25 hours per week beginning April 7th and ending June 30th, 2025. The Leadership Initiatives Intern will be responsible for the preparation and communication with students in preparation for the National Leaders Collective kickoff, and general leadership development for the National Leaders Collective for the Leadership Initiatives Team. The Leadership Initiatives Intern will report to the Director of Leadership Initiatives.

 

Responsibilities

Assist with the National Leaders Collective kickoff weekend

  • Welcome calls when needed
  • Leader registration for NLC kickoff weekend
  • Order and packing supplies for the National Leaders Collective
  • Airport point of contact for student arrival
  • Set up and tear down the NLC kickoff weekend
  • Greeting students, traffic control at the NLC kickoff weekend
  • Headshot specialist at NLC (organize and coordinate all student headshots and group shots)
  • Ensuring all student stories are captured at NLC
  • Operational tasks at the NLC
  • Preparing welcome materials for student leaders
  • Leading students through activism and activities in Washington D.C.
  • Student coordination for nominees at the NLC that are not enrolled in a yearlong program

Assist the Leadership Initiatives Team as needed with:

  • Writing success blogs for fellowship projects
  • Communicating relevant news updates and helpful tips to fellows and mentors as needed
  • Communicating student project and program updates to Regional Coordinators
  • Leading other program calls when needed
  • Mobilizing fellows for various opportunities
  • Gathering alumni stories and building the alumni network
  • Execution of the National Leaders Collective

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Candidates must have knowledge of grammar rules and utilize the oxford comma.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 1 year of experience participating in leadership programs with SFLA preferred.

 

Who Are We Looking For

  • A positive attitude, good problem-solving skills, and a passion for serving in the pro-life field are a must.
  • Must be teachable to learn SFLA technologies and platforms.
  • Candidates must be self- motivated, a good problem solver, have an entrepreneurial spirit, expert multi-tasker, maintain confidentiality, able to work independently, and be a highly organized person.
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Must have the capacity to present to student leaders.
  • East coast located preferred.

 

Position Details

Position Type

  • This is a part-time position working a maximum of 25 hours per week April 7th and ending in June 30th, 2025. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours can be somewhat flexible by request.
  • A maximum of 40 hours per week while this team member is in Fredericksburg/D.C for the National Leaders Collective kickoff weekend June 16th – 30th, 2025.
  • Evenings as needed for leadership calls.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The Leadership Initiatives Intern will report to the Director of Leadership Initiatives and may:
  • Assist in leading students in leadership programs, as well as utilize peer management techniques to coordinate across internal and external teams.

Physical Demands

  • Must have the ability to operate technical equipment such as a computer and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Other physical demands may include setting up displays, and events, assisting in warehouse packing and supply organization for events, and participating in local and national pro-life marches. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.

Travel

  • Travel to SFLAHQ if needed.
  • Travel to SFLAHQ and Washington D.C for NLC prep and event execution June 16th – June 30th.
  • Travel to SCOTUS if needed.

Work Authorization

  • Must be able to successfully complete an I-9.  The I-9 is used for verifying the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States.
