Sidewalk Counseling Manager
Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
• Recruit and train new volunteers for sidewalk counseling and sidewalk prayer support, through seminars and individual training sessions.
• Supervise the Sidewalk Counseling Coordinator.
• Provide ongoing training and feedback to volunteers for all Twin Cities abortion locations.
o Training tips for sub request emails
o Available to field questions regarding best practices, specific situations, etc.
o Follow-up on any concerns regarding volunteer behavior
• Document, report, and follow-up on incidents reported by volunteers:
o Instruct volunteers on police reporting.
o Obtain police records.
o Document incidents and report to Education Director and CEO.
• Sidewalk counsel two 2-hr shifts each week, and more if necessary to train a new volunteer or fill sub needs.
• Help distribute materials needed for sidewalk counseling.
Secondary Responsibilities
• Maintain training materials and develop new materials as needed.
• Provide training to sidewalk counselors in other cities in Minnesota.
• Maintain and develop relationships with local Pregnancy Resource Centers.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Education Director or the CEO.
Skills and Experience Required
• Experience in sidewalk counseling
• Good writing and speaking skills: training materials, constructive feedback, conflict resolution, public training seminars, etc.
• Willingness to make time-sensitive communications outside normal work hours
• Willingness to change plans with little notice when needed for sidewalk counseling
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work interdenominationally
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Close attention to detail
• Current, regular attendance at a Christian church
Minimum Educational Background
High School diploma, college degree preferred
Compensation
Salary, plus benefits – health and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick days
Experience Needed: Must have sidewalk counseling experience and good writing and speaking skills
