Dubuque County Right To Life, Inc.

Status: Paid - Intern

Description:

Internship Purpose:
The Dubuque County Right To Life, Inc. (DCRTL) 2026 Summer Internship exists to equip pro-life high school and college students to defend the rights of the unborn by providing them with exemplary training and leading them in various strategic outreach efforts. Interns have the opportunity to join the brand-new, multifaceted strategy that will run from mid June through mid August 2026, aimed at permanently changing an entire community’s views on abortion.

Interns will participate in classroom training in order to sharpen their skills in pro-life knowledge and advocacy, and then will spend the bulk of their time assisting with community outreach in Dubuque County. Our goal is to produce a measurable and statistically significant shift in public opinion away from legalized abortion and towards the pro-life position, and this internship is the best opportunity to accomplish this important goal.

Interns must have the ability to be in the Dubuque County area 5 days per week (with the option to stay in housing provided by DCRTL), and be willing to fulfill the duties and responsibilities as well as meet the qualifications listed below.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will participate in classroom training and various forms of community activism. These components will comprise the expected 40 hours per week of work.

Community Outreach:
Community outreach will be done several times per week with interns, volunteers, and Dubuque County Right To Life staff. Interns will be expected to participate in outreach training and all forms of outreach.
Outreach methods will vary between street outreach, sending mailers, flyering, peaceful protests, door knocking, and more.

Date and Location Information:
The internship will begin on June 15th and run until August 14th.
The internship will take place in person Monday through Friday during normal work hours, with occasional nights or weekends required.

*Qualifications:
-Commitment to the pro-life movement and the mission of Dubuque County Right To Life, Inc.
-Ability to effectively communicate in person and in writing.
-A positive attitude and willingness to work productively with others as a team.
-Valid driver’s license and the ability to reliably commute to Dubuque for the duration of the internship.
-Proficiency with mobile applications.
-Ability to pass a background check.

Stipend:
This is a paid internship. DCRTL will pay interns $15.00 an hour for 40 hours of work per week. Interns will be paid approximately $4,800 over the course of their internship.

Each intern will be expected to raise financial support in the amount of $4,800 before the internship begins, and will have approximately two months to do so. This will require training and check-ins with our Executive Director and several fundraising meetings with potential supporters.

DCRTL will provide extensive training and coaching in order to help interns reach full support. DCRTL is committed to helping interns succeed with confidence.
Interns must be open to the idea of raising support. Interns who are not entirely comfortable are encouraged to apply, so long as they are willing to engage in it given further information, training, and support.
As a condition of acceptance, interns must assemble a list of 50 names and phone numbers for people they would be willing to approach for the purpose of raising financial support.

Housing:
DCRTL will provide housing for interns, and strongly encourages interns to take advantage of this opportunity. Living in community with fellow interns makes the experience significantly better and forms lifelong friendships. The cost of housing will be covered along with some meals by DCRTL.
