Summary 

The Field Team intern assists the Regional Coordinator with maintaining and improving SFLA groups in the region. The intern would assist with special projects, attending events on campus or in the community, and maintaining communication with groups. The intern may also be asked to assist with occasional administrative tasks such as mailings and data-entry. 

The Texas intern will be based out a major city in TX which can be discussed.

 

Essential Functions for the Field Team Intern 

  • Provide trainings to students and community members 
  • Table and host displays on campus 
  • Take part in the Abortion Free City Campaign 
  • Door knocking and other GOTV efforts 
  • Attend local mobilization opportunities and community events 
  • Collect contacts 
  • Research for special projects and legislation 
  • Assist in meeting regional metrics  
  • Data entry 
  • Church Outreach 
  • Fundraising activities and community networking 
  • Assist with administrative tasks 
  • Participate in weekly calls and daily group chats to report progress 
  • Keep accurate records of metrics, group activity and leadership contact information in Salesforce 
  • Other duties as assigned by Regional Manager 

 

Competencies 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.  
  • A positive attitude, good problem-solving skills, and a passion for serving in the pro-life field are a must.   
  • Must be teachable to learn SFLA technologies and platforms.   
  • Candidates must be self- motivated, a good problem solver, have an entrepreneurial spirit, expert multi-tasker, maintain confidentiality, able to work independently, and be a highly organized person.  
  • Candidates must have knowledge of grammar rules and utilize the oxford comma. 

 

Supervisory Responsibility 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

 

Work Environment 

Students for Life of America is a 501c3 not-for-profit charity that engages in education and activism. We are made up of Americans of all ages, although the majority of our team is in our 20s and 30s. We run a fast-moving, grassroots organization that strives to innovate, unify, and lead. We believe the ending of abortion will happen when both supply and demand for abortion are erased. We believe that this is a multi-front fight as we must engage to change the culture but also to change politics. We do not believe there is a silver-bullet to ending abortion. We do not accept mediocrity, and we value leadership amongst our team and volunteers. 

 

Physical Demands 

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some traveling is required. The intern must be able to drive and/or have access to transportation to get to trainings and mobilizations. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work 

This is an action-based position working a maximum of 15 hours per week. Additional stipends shall be provided for certain metrics such as closed groups, trainings, and visits, as approved by the Regional Manager. Hours are flexible, but it is encouraged to work as many as possible during the team’s core hours 8AM-5PM.  Workday flow/schedule should be reported to the director manager of this position. 

Travel 

Attend trainings and mobilization events, as they arise and as is possible within the allotted hours. 

Required Education and Experience 

High school diploma. 

At least 1-2 years of experience with Students for Life. 

Work Authorization 

Must be able to successfully complete an I-9.  The I-9 is used for verifying the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States.
