Vitae Corps volunteers are recent female college graduates who volunteer by living and working together in community at Aid for Women’s maternity homes (Heather’s House and Monica’s House) to help provide our residents with safe and nurturing homes. Vitae Corps volunteers are dedicated to Aid for Women’s pro-life mission and play a vital role in affirming and supporting each mother in her decision to choose life — providing her with the emotional, practical and spiritual support she and her baby need while living at our maternity homes.
FOR DEDICATING ONE YEAR OF SERVICE, VITAE CORPS VOLUNTEERS RECEIVE:
• Room and meals at Heather’s House or room at Monica’s House (Volunteers share rooms and bathrooms);
• A bi-weekly paid stipend;
• 2 days off per week and 12 vacation days;
• Healthcare coverage if needed;
• Orientation and on-the-job training;
• Growth in leadership, conflict management, organizational, communication, and professional skills;
• Experience in the fields of child development, maternal and women’s health, social work, counseling and non-profit management and the pro-life movement;
• The opportunity to attend Aid for Women events and other pro-life and community events;
• Monthly spiritual reflections and annual spiritual retreat;
• A life shared with amazing women and their precious babies!
Experience Needed: AID FOR WOMEN VITAE CORPS VOLUNTEERS: • Serve as one-on-one mentors, meeting the individual needs of each resident; • Support Aid for Women staff with resident programming and development; • Serve as mothers’ helpers, providing babysitting as needed and supporting mothers in proper childcare; • Assist Aid for Women staff in enforcing house rules, policies and procedures; • Provide daily practical support, including communicating weekly schedules and assisting residents with transportation as needed; • Assist with household duties, including grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning; • Attend to administrative duties, including answering phones and coordinating material donations; • Participate and lead in morning prayer for the community; • Share Christ’s love through the study of Sacred Scripture, faith hours and conversations; • Prepare for and participate in Mass and Adoration at Aid for Women’s chapels; • Serve as Aid for Women ambassadors to visitors, volunteers and the community at large
